When you take your game to the course, do you want to swing like a pro?

Are you a ‘Feel’ Golfer? Then best stay clear of this book!

Or are you (like me), a golfer who loves all of the technical elements of the golf swing?

If so, then this is a must have Golf Swing Book for your collection. In fact, without a doubt my favorite golf book of all time is the excellent ‘Swing Like A Pro’, by Dr. Ralph Mann and Fred Griffin. Published in 1998 after 17 Years of detailed research.

However, a word of caution…This is probably not the book for you if you are new to the game of golf. If though, you have a reasonable understanding of your golf swing then this may be the book to take you to the next level.

What this book will do is dispel many of the golf “Myths” that you will read (or hear) from other sources. Myths such as…..

Impact position is the same as address position. (Even Tiger makes this claim in his excellent book ‘How I Play Golf’). Swinging in a barrel, Arms stay connected. Arms lead the swing. The Neutral Grip. Swing Plane theory etc….Yes, all these myths and more are scientifically proven to be untrue.

In order to write this book, Dr. Mann computer analyzed the swings of more than a 100 PGA and LPGA tour players. So their computer generated model includes Al Geiberger’s swing, Payne Stewart’s swing, Jack Nicklaus’s Swing, Davis Love III’s swing…to name a few.

They computer analyzed every part of the body, through every part of the swing. What transpired from their findings was that, the transitional move from Backswing to downswing, is THE magic moment in a golf swing.

To quote, “The transition move (the change of direction from backswing to downswing), is the one movement in golf in which the Pro and the amateur golfer differ dramatically. If there is an aspect of the full swing that can be labeled the chief determinant of distance, accuracy, and consistency, the transition move is it.”…..

So if you didn’t realize that your hips should be moving forwards, starting the downswing while your arms, hands and clubhead are still moving backwards to the top of the swing, then this book is a must read.

The book has excellent drills for every element of the golf swing. Backed up with hundreds of detailed photo’s and 175 animated 3D stills of the computer generated pro to further enhance

As I said earlier though, read this one at your peril. It’s very technical.

In fact, if you haven’t read Ben Hogan’s 5 Lessons yet. Then this may be a better suggestion to read, before you delve into the pages of ‘Swing Like A Pro’.

Buy Swing Like A Pro at the best price… Get your copy HERE!

Maybe you think it’s about time to break apart from golf. You may love the game, but you are frustrated because no matter how much practice you put into the game, it just does not seem to improve. Maybe you’re already a fair player but you’ve hit a plateau and can’t break through it. If these scenarios are your situation, then you should continue to read. We will talk about how golf swing aids may just be the solution for you.

There is no shortage of golf swing aids on the market today. Golf is an expensive sports as well as a hobby. Golfers spend some big money on products if they can improve the enjoyment of the game. You and the manufacturers of these products know this. Also technological advancements make golf swing aids more beneficial.

Different kinds of golf swing aids emerge. Some golf swing aids claim to fix just about any issue with your golf swings. For example, there are aids that can help you to align your swing. Other aids may help adjust your wrist and arm position throughout the entire range of motion. You can even get golf swing aids that ensure that you take advantage of a full range of golfing motion. Golf swing simulators help you to improve your power and accuracy. Other devices may act as driving range simulators. These devices have sensors that tell you how far and straight your shots are.

Visit your pro shop and have an expert evaluate your golf swing should be your first step before investing in any of the above tool. Learn from some professional before considering buying any of the advanced tools. Only after that, you should visit your pro shop and ask for advice to fix your problems. Don’t feel pressured to buy it right then and there.

Perform some research before investing your hard-earned cash. One of the easiest ways to do that is online. Because there are so many products and golf is so popular there are many sites devoted to it. People share their experiences freely about what golf swing aids have helped them and which ones are not just as good.

If the golf aid that was recommended to you overall has positive feedback from other golfers then you may even be able to buy it online cheaper than you would at the pro shop. If the product didn’t fare too well in terms of positive reviews, just ask around for the best alternative. You can do further research into that product.

The SWINGYDE…..

I can’t believe I get this excited a bout a piece of yellow plastic, (though be warned it also comes in black!).

The Swingyde, as well as being the simplest of golf swing training aids, is also one of the cheapest, next to Dave Pelz’s P3 Balls and the iPhone Golf Swing Tempo Application. It WILL help you increase impact speed, ensure correct swing path, help you develop a late release of the club head at impact. If you are a slicer it ‘may’ cure your slice. Now I say may, because there are a multitude of possible causes for your slice.

There’s a sense of huge disappointment when this thing first arrives at your door. Upon opening the package, you get a cheap looking piece of plastic, a wing nut, a second rate sweat band, and a short Jim Flick video describing the use of the Swingyde…..Do Not Be Fooled!…..

This is a MUST HAVE golf training aid. Particularly if you suffer from ‘Casting’ or not being able to hold your wrist angle for a late release through the impact zone. Both of which will absolutely kill any chance you have of both, attaining swing speed, and thereby, distance.

This simple device attaches quickly to any club in your bag. As you make your swing, the aim is to get the Swingyde to rest on your wrist both through the backswing and the follow through. Ensuring perfect club head alignment and swing path. It also serves as a visual guide at the halfway back position, where your club should be parallel to the target line with the club face pointing to the sky.

It fits easily in your bag for a trip to the range. It’s light. Fits any club, lefty or righty! And it’s plastic! (Or did I mention that already?) So get your Swingyde Training Aid Here!

Jim Flick Says….

“In my 57 years of playing and 43 years of teaching I have never seen a training tool like my SWINGYDE to help train golfers of all abilities to swing their club on line, every time. Let me share my discovery with you !”

Here’s an Amazon Review that I picked out

A. Kid’s …Amazon Review First, I will admit that the price is outrageous for this simple little piece of plastic (and the included DVD, which you can watch in advance on YouTube), but I tell you what, this thing absolutely does what it claims to do! After just a couple of practice sessions (swinging in the back yard), not only am I swinging on plane, but I am able to detect other swing flaws (like cranking my hips too early which opens the club face). Over a short period of time, I feel like I am naturally “in the groove” when I swing, and I am thinking less about all of the mechanics. This thing definitely helps to create muscle memory and the natural (and correct) feel for the golf swing. On my first golf outing after working 10 minutes for 5 consecutive nights with the Swingyde, I played the best golf I have ever played. My club face was square and I connected with the ball better than I ever have. (I generally shoot in the 110 range and on this last round, I scored 98). If you are handy with tools, you may be able to rig up something like this product, but for the rest of us, spend the $25 and get “on plane”. If the rating scale went to 10, I would rate this product a 10…..

So buy ‘Swingyde’ at the best price, GET THE SWINGYDE HERE

Trust me on this one. This is another Golf Swing Aid Book that you must add to your collection. It’s a Vintage Golf Classic, written in 1957, that still stands the test of time. Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons, claims that…..

“THE AVERAGE GOLFER IS ENTIRELY CAPABLE OF BUILDING A REPEATING SWING AND BREAKING 80.”…

This particularly, will suit those of you who are new to the game, and are seeking clear and detailed instructions on the fundemantals of the game. With excellent diagrams throughout. This book concentrates on creating a repeating swing that you can take to the course.

Bill Noesges of Kansas Says this about it….

GET THIS BOOK !!!
Repeat GET IT NOW and it will, without a doubt IMPROVE YOUR GAME and outlook on golf 10 fold! I have had and read this book like a bible over the past 3 months and I will tell you unequivocally, It is simply the best book on what makes a golf swing a TRUE golf swing. I have been a golfer for 20 years and through all the articles I have read, any lessons I have taken, none have come close to breaking down what the mechanics of a golf swing truly are.
This book takes you from the start to a finish of a solid fundamental golf swing. As every individual has their own style, I would recommend once you learn these basics, make your own minor adjustments to suit your own physical limitations due to factors such as flexibility and body size.
Now I have to tell you, I am slow to comprehend and grasp new ideas but once I catch them, if they are indeed true, I embrace and preach upon them like a priest in the church. This book is a true awakening for a golfer and what it takes to make a real golf swing.
The amazing results of this book and what a golfer actually experiences when making a true swing as a result of the study of this book are absolutely astonishing. You should make this book your BIBLE to a great golf swing. The results you see (and feel) will leave you in total awe of how simple a great golf swing is and how easily it can be accomplished.
I endorse this book 100% and promise you will not be disappointed. Indeed you will be delighted and your game will see the dawn of a new day.
5 ***** book. A MUST for every golfer

I just love these balls.

They allow you to practice practically anywhere, and are the official golf ball for ‘Urban Golf’ competition.

What’s great about them is that you get a third of the actual flight of your real golf ball. Therefore, you can make your backyard practice meaningful,l in terms of distance, while at the same time, keeping your word to the wife, that you won’t be breaking any windows.

You can even draw and fade them. Way better than those awful whiffle balls, that give you next to no feed back.

Almost GOLF Point3 Practice Golf Balls feature:

Solid core of cross-linked foam creates enough weight (13.5 grams) for limited distance performance

1/8 mm dimples for true trajectory and flight

Solid core and internal pressure simulate real ball flight

Travels approximately one-third the distance of a normal golf ball

Perfectly balanced for true spin, trajectory, accuracy

Extremely soft, making it backyard safe

Out-performs wiffle and blown plastic balls

So do yourself a favour and try these Dave Pelz Almost Golf Point 3 Balls. Even our cats love ‘em!

So why is the short game bible a must have?

Well, because we golfers have all made the same mistake. We get into the game of golf, and in our attempts to improve, we generally spend hours and hours, at the driving range, beating balls into an open field. Trying to improve our swings, our games, and our scores.

What David Pelz uncovers in this 430 page, comprehensive guide to the short game, is that, we all go about it in the wrong way. He explains to us, scientifically, after years of research and number crunching on the PGA Tour, that the top earners in the game, are the players with the best short games. Not the longest hitters, nor the best putters.

Mr Pelz contends, with scientific proof, the ‘Unified Swing’ theory. That is that the short game swing is the exact same swing that you use with any club in your bag. He insists that Golf is made up of 5 games, with 3 swings. The Power Swing, The Short Game Swing (which is one of finesse) and the Putting Swing. Obviously, the closer you can get the ball to the pin from within 100 Yards, is going to effect your scoring. Which is where the short game swing comes in.

Even if you are new to the game, you’ll already have learnt one thing and that is, that it’s easier to hit your shorter irons straighter than any other club. However, when you are within a 100 yards, can you control the distance? It’s vital that you can. Let’s say you have 64 Yards to the pin. There’s a good chance that you could hit it straight at the pin, but can you nail the distance. If you fly it straight over the flag, but 6 Yards long, from where you’re standing it’s going to look like a great shot. Trouble is you just left yourself an 18 foot putt. Which Dave Pelz will tell you that, not only are you guaranteed to miss that first putt, but you are more likely to three putt. So it makes sense, that you learn to hit it 64 Yards in the first place, doesn’t it? Even more importantly, to be able to hit a 68 Yard Shot on the next hole if you have to.

That’s where this book comes in………

An Amazon Review : Mike Davis of Ohio

This is far and away the best instructional book in golf, not to mention the short game on which this book is all about. No more “half swings” or “partial swings” which in my experience golfers tend to decelerate on because a lack of confidence in swing strength. The 3×4 system is absolutely the best way to KNOW you have the right club and the swinging the right speed to get it to the pin. Book covers every conceivable lie and ball position needed for that lie. Also shows how to “plan” your shot with type of grass, direction of grain and landing surface. Because of the length and the need to “study” this book I would only recommend it to golfers who are serious about their game. Short game was weakest part of my game but after only a month with this book it has become my strongest, its that fast. Went from an 18 handicap index to a 12.

Golf Swing Tempo – iPod App

You will see from my blogs that I am a huge fan of the underrated subject of golf swing speed, as well as golf swing tempo.

Here’s an application for those of you out there who are lucky enough to have an iPhone. It is without a doubt, the cheapest (Not including iPhone purchase of course) Golf Swing Aid that you will see on our blog.

At an amazing $1.99 at time of writing, this looks like the golf swing aid bargain of the year!

It would appear to follow the exact same principle as underlined in Golf Tour Tempo. Why wouldn’t it….after all, it’s proven.

Set your ideal golf swing tempo on your iPhone. Then practice your swing as you swing in sync to the tempo. Use MyGolfSwing anywhere – in your office, in your home or anywhere you can swing your arms to its tempo, even without a club. Use MyGolfSwing on the driving range, practice green or even while you are playing golf. You can even set it up to repeat, for the same number of balls that you just ordered on the range……Insane!

What I love as well, is that you can actually select the PGA pro of your choice, from the library, so that you can swing to the exact tempo as, Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, etc.

You can see a demo of this app in action, as well as purchase the download at www.mygolfswing.biz

I’m counting on some of you lucky iPhone owners to filed test this app on my behalf.

Please let me know how you get on with it.

Without a doubt, golf swing tempo IS a fundamental of the golf swing. However, it would appear to be the most overlooked and underwritten about.
What doesn’t help, is that half of what I read on the subject is just nonsense anyway. If I were a high handicapper, some of these articles would leave me more mystified about Swing Tempo than when I started them. Here is an excerpt from such an article….”Get into a rhythm with your swing by counting one on the way back, two at the top (give it a little pause) and three on the way down.”

Now I ask you, do you understand this. I know I don’t. If you and I both counted to three, and it were timed, there’s a good chance that we would not both do it, in the same time frame. Our nature would affect the count. Would your little pause be longer or shorter than my little pause? It will be our brains that are doing the counting, and it’s our brains that get us into so much trouble, out on the course, in the first place. Will we count to three in the same calm way, when we are facing a 150 yard carry over a lake to a bunker guarded green?…….I think not!

I don’t know that I ever saw Tiger, Phil or VJ taking this little pause. The article goes on further to suggest that, when practicing at the range, this pause should be for TWO SECONDS! Now I ask you, does this sound like Golf Swing Tempo training? If you are going to hold at the top of the back swing for 2 seconds, then why not just cut out the middleman. Yes, that’s right, forget the whole address the ball, waggle, smooth take away and the rest. Just start your swing at the top. Like facing a pitcher with a baseball bat in your hands. Trust me though, you can kiss swing speed Goodbye!

If you are a golfer, then I’m sure that it’s safe to say, that if I were to ask you to write a list of the fundamentals of golf, you would probably hand me a list that included:Grip

Grip

Posture

Ball Position

Alignment

Pre-swing Routine …and you wouldn’t be wrong.

I’d be mightily impressed, in fact.

I could take those fundamentals to the range with a bunch of books and magazines and work on them. But sooner or later I’m going to ask you, (Because I’m an inquisitive kind of guy), “This is all great stuff, but how fast should I swing?” Because after all, we are always hearing about club head speed, and how it affects distance.
So let us add Swing Tempo to our list of golf fundamentals. In fact, lets put it in 3rd Place, right behind grip and alignment. The reason being is that, if you have a basic understanding of swing technique, then Swing Tempo is the glue that holds it all together. Pausing at the top of your back swing, for anywhere between a pause and 2 seconds is the stuff that will bring it crashing down. In fact this will more than likely cause you to ‘Cast’, or come over the top in the swing.

With good tempo, the left knee should be starting it’s Downswing move to the left, just as the hands and club are reaching the top of the back swing. I don’t disagree totally with the counting system. What you need though is a device to dictate the count, a device that is external. A device that is not your brain. Be it one of the many golf swing tempo devices, a simple and inexpensive metronome, or a piece of music with a beat that you can swing to. If you are an Iphone user, there is even an application that you can download exactly for the purpose.

Now it is often said that most high handicappers swing too fast. This is not, in fact, the case. Most swing too slow, but their swings look fast because they lack a decent tempo. Either a really quick take away that then slows on the way to impact, or the reverse. Ernie Els’ ‘Big Easy’ swing, is in fact, exactly the same tempo as Phil Mickelson’s and VJ Singh’s. Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player’s were slightly faster. Where the tour pros do not vary, is in the ratio of their swings. THIS IS KEY! It was only first truly written about in John Novosel’s excellent, 2004 book, Tour Tempo – Golf’s Last Secret Finally Revealed. The tour pros ALL swing at a 3 To 1 Ratio. However long they take getting to the top of their back swing is 3 Times that of getting the club head back to impact! So there you go. Probably the simplest fundamental you ever read. Get to the range with some type of timing device, and swing to a 3 TO 1 Ratio. The magic thing about it is, that you will find yourself so engrossed with listening to the Beats, that all other swing thoughts (particularly negative ones), will leave your head. Try different tempos (NOT RATIOS) and find the one that suits your personality. When you have, you can take your new tempo onto the course, where my guess is, you’ll swing with a new found confidence.

If you really want to improve your Golf short game, which is anything within 100 yards of the flag, then first you need the right equipment in the bag to do so. As well as the best book on the short game ever written, Dave Pelz’s Short Game Bible.

Gary player once said that, “70% of shots are played within 70 Yards of the green”. This was later, scientifically proven by David Pelz in his fantastic book, The Short Game Bible. Mr Pelz set out to find out “Why the top earners on the PGA tour, were the top earners”. What he found out was that it was their ability, to get it closest to the hole, from 100 yards and in. This even outweighed their ability to putt! The top putters on the PGA tour, were not the top earners.

So do you have the clubs in your bag to cover 70% of your shots? My guess is….Probably Not!

Most beginners and high handicappers only carry one wedge. Consequently, they try to hit anywhere between 10 and 100 Yards with the same club. This makes accurate distance control, on every short shot, virtually impossible. If you’re such a golfer, then it really is time to consider adding one, or two more wedges to your bag. If this means the sacrifice of one of your long irons, in order to confirm to the 14 club rule, then so be it. After all, how often or how well do you use that 3 iron anyway?

With various wedge lofts available, (anywhere from 52 to 64 degrees), from all of the major manufacturers. Consider three wedges with a four degree separation, i.e. 52, 56 and 60 degrees of loft.

Now… Armed with your 3 wedges. You’ll need to get down to your local park and practice. How much should you practice? Well, doesn’t it make sense that if 70% of your shots are going to be golf short game shots, then 70% of the amount of time that you spend practicing, should be specifically on this type of shot? Yet I find that very few golfers do. Instead they’d rather beat balls at the driving range, often with no specific target, or goal in mind.

So trust me on this. Get to the park this weekend. Take a 100 Yard tape measure, and spend some time getting comfortable with your new wedges. Hit nice easy (80%) swings with all three of your wedges. Hit 20 Balls with each wedge. Discount the furthest and shortest five balls. The center measurement of your cluster of ten balls is your average for that wedge. Write it down and put it in your bag.

Try and do this once a week and you’ll soon find that your grouping will get tighter, and more consistent. Not only that, but on the course, your golf short game will soon be the envy of your golf buddies.

Do you know what swing tempo Tiger Woods Uses? Or Ernie Els?

More importantly, do you know what Swing Tempo you use. If you have one, is it consistent?

In my humble opinion, Golf Swing Tempo is the MOST underrated and underwritten about subject, in all of Golfdom! Largely, because for many years it was seen as somewhat of a natural ability. One that not many golf instructors, (including the top ones), touched upon in their teachings. Even David Leadbetter, in his book ‘Faults and Fixes’, only gives it a passing mention….”Tempo is basically the overall speed of your swing”. Jim Flick in ‘How To Become A Complete Golfer’…..”The speed with which you take the club back, does not necessarily relate to the speed with which you bring it forward”. We can only assume that the PGA Tour pro’s developed their tempo as a natural progression, of learning golf, because they certainly weren’t learning it from these guys.

I have literally hundreds of books on the subject of golf. You may have a few of your own. If you were looking for instruction on the grip, I could easily find you over 30 books, each with excellent descriptions and pictures to help you find the correct grip. Likewise, if you wanted to know the correct set up, or the correct position at the top of the backswing, I could probably find you over 50. Yet, if you were to ask me what speed you should swing at, or what swing tempo you should use. Then I could only find you one! Tour Tempo: Golf’s Last Secret Finally Revealed, written byJohn Novosel and John Garrity in 2004. If I were to be totally honest with you, this one book transformed my golf game instantly. I had spent so much time working on all the individual parts of the golf swing and yet, it was this book, which became the glue that held my swing together. My drives got longer, my irons got more accurate, my handicap dropped, week after week. The ‘Golf Gods’ truly blessed us when they gave John Novosel his ‘Eureka’ moment.

Mr Novosel, studied hours and hours of footage, of ALL of the PGA touring pro’s, including some of the greats of yesteryear. He discovered the secret quite by accident. ALL of these great players had one thing that was consistent….Yes even Jim Furyk! They all swing to a consistent 3 to 1 ratio. 3 to the top of the backswing and 1 to impact. This book will have you swinging to the exact same speed and ratio as Tiger Woods…..In FIFTEEN MINUTES! It comes complete with a CD Rom, that has examples of students achieving upwards of 20mph swing speed increase, within minutes.

If you only buy one golf swing aid book this year, to help get your game on track. Then make it this one! I guarantee, you won’t be disappointed.

Buy Tour Tempo at the best price though!……Get Your Copy Here.

Here is just one sample customer review from Amazon……

The subtitle of this book is “Golf’s Last Secret Finally Revealed”. There couldn’t be a better description of this book. I have for many years carried a 20 handicap. During the summer of ’03, I made a major commitment to rebuilding my golf swing. This consisted of twelve lessons and loads of practice. I learned how to grip the club properly, how to set-up, how to take the club back, and how to swing through the ball. Like many players rebuilding their swing, my scores got worse initially before getting better. However, even after the changes settled in there was no net gain in my index. I could now hit my best shots really, really well, but I still hit enough bad shots in a round to cancel the really good ones. What was happening was that while I was better mechanically, I was playing with way too many swing thoughts. I was not enjoying playing because I was playing in fear of making a mistake, of not remembering something in a long list of swing thoughts. A playing partner recommended Tour Tempo to me a couple of months ago. After adopting the lessons of Tour Tempo, results were almost immediate. Lower scores (index down to 16.8), and more fun from playing golf. Now the only thing in my mind when I step up to the ball is the target and a cadence. In fact, I believe my improvement has resulted from both my work on mechanics and tempo. I was unable to benefit from the mechanics alone, however, because the successful golf swing , it seems, is more than just the sum of the parts; it is how everything works together in time. Buy this book. Frank Hulton : Philadelphia
