When you take your game to the course, do you want to swing like a pro?

Are you a ‘Feel’ Golfer? Then best stay clear of this book!

Or are you (like me), a golfer who loves all of the technical elements of the golf swing?

If so, then this is a must have Golf Swing Book for your collection. In fact, without a doubt my favorite golf book of all time is the excellent ‘Swing Like A Pro’, by Dr. Ralph Mann and Fred Griffin. Published in 1998 after 17 Years of detailed research.

However, a word of caution…This is probably not the book for you if you are new to the game of golf. If though, you have a reasonable understanding of your golf swing then this may be the book to take you to the next level.

What this book will do is dispel many of the golf “Myths” that you will read (or hear) from other sources. Myths such as…..

Impact position is the same as address position. (Even Tiger makes this claim in his excellent book ‘How I Play Golf’). Swinging in a barrel, Arms stay connected. Arms lead the swing. The Neutral Grip. Swing Plane theory etc….Yes, all these myths and more are scientifically proven to be untrue.

In order to write this book, Dr. Mann computer analyzed the swings of more than a 100 PGA and LPGA tour players. So their computer generated model includes Al Geiberger’s swing, Payne Stewart’s swing, Jack Nicklaus’s Swing, Davis Love III’s swing…to name a few.

They computer analyzed every part of the body, through every part of the swing. What transpired from their findings was that, the transitional move from Backswing to downswing, is THE magic moment in a golf swing.

To quote, “The transition move (the change of direction from backswing to downswing), is the one movement in golf in which the Pro and the amateur golfer differ dramatically. If there is an aspect of the full swing that can be labeled the chief determinant of distance, accuracy, and consistency, the transition move is it.”…..

So if you didn’t realize that your hips should be moving forwards, starting the downswing while your arms, hands and clubhead are still moving backwards to the top of the swing, then this book is a must read.

The book has excellent drills for every element of the golf swing. Backed up with hundreds of detailed photo’s and 175 animated 3D stills of the computer generated pro to further enhance

As I said earlier though, read this one at your peril. It’s very technical.

In fact, if you haven’t read Ben Hogan’s 5 Lessons yet. Then this may be a better suggestion to read, before you delve into the pages of ‘Swing Like A Pro’.

Trust me on this one. This is another Golf Swing Aid Book that you must add to your collection. It’s a Vintage Golf Classic, written in 1957, that still stands the test of time. Ben Hogan’s Five Lessons, claims that…..

“THE AVERAGE GOLFER IS ENTIRELY CAPABLE OF BUILDING A REPEATING SWING AND BREAKING 80.”…

This particularly, will suit those of you who are new to the game, and are seeking clear and detailed instructions on the fundemantals of the game. With excellent diagrams throughout. This book concentrates on creating a repeating swing that you can take to the course.

Bill Noesges of Kansas Says this about it….

GET THIS BOOK !!!
Repeat GET IT NOW and it will, without a doubt IMPROVE YOUR GAME and outlook on golf 10 fold! I have had and read this book like a bible over the past 3 months and I will tell you unequivocally, It is simply the best book on what makes a golf swing a TRUE golf swing. I have been a golfer for 20 years and through all the articles I have read, any lessons I have taken, none have come close to breaking down what the mechanics of a golf swing truly are.
This book takes you from the start to a finish of a solid fundamental golf swing. As every individual has their own style, I would recommend once you learn these basics, make your own minor adjustments to suit your own physical limitations due to factors such as flexibility and body size.
Now I have to tell you, I am slow to comprehend and grasp new ideas but once I catch them, if they are indeed true, I embrace and preach upon them like a priest in the church. This book is a true awakening for a golfer and what it takes to make a real golf swing.
The amazing results of this book and what a golfer actually experiences when making a true swing as a result of the study of this book are absolutely astonishing. You should make this book your BIBLE to a great golf swing. The results you see (and feel) will leave you in total awe of how simple a great golf swing is and how easily it can be accomplished.
I endorse this book 100% and promise you will not be disappointed. Indeed you will be delighted and your game will see the dawn of a new day.
5 ***** book. A MUST for every golfer

The Golf Short Game Bible – A Must Have!

Posted by Steve Snead

So why is the short game bible a must have?

Well, because we golfers have all made the same mistake. We get into the game of golf, and in our attempts to improve, we generally spend hours and hours, at the driving range, beating balls into an open field. Trying to improve our swings, our games, and our scores.

What David Pelz uncovers in this 430 page, comprehensive guide to the short game, is that, we all go about it in the wrong way. He explains to us, scientifically, after years of research and number crunching on the PGA Tour, that the top earners in the game, are the players with the best short games. Not the longest hitters, nor the best putters.

Mr Pelz contends, with scientific proof, the ‘Unified Swing’ theory. That is that the short game swing is the exact same swing that you use with any club in your bag. He insists that Golf is made up of 5 games, with 3 swings. The Power Swing, The Short Game Swing (which is one of finesse) and the Putting Swing. Obviously, the closer you can get the ball to the pin from within 100 Yards, is going to effect your scoring. Which is where the short game swing comes in.

Even if you are new to the game, you’ll already have learnt one thing and that is, that it’s easier to hit your shorter irons straighter than any other club. However, when you are within a 100 yards, can you control the distance? It’s vital that you can. Let’s say you have 64 Yards to the pin. There’s a good chance that you could hit it straight at the pin, but can you nail the distance. If you fly it straight over the flag, but 6 Yards long, from where you’re standing it’s going to look like a great shot. Trouble is you just left yourself an 18 foot putt. Which Dave Pelz will tell you that, not only are you guaranteed to miss that first putt, but you are more likely to three putt. So it makes sense, that you learn to hit it 64 Yards in the first place, doesn’t it? Even more importantly, to be able to hit a 68 Yard Shot on the next hole if you have to.

That’s where this book comes in………

An Amazon Review : Mike Davis of Ohio

This is far and away the best instructional book in golf, not to mention the short game on which this book is all about. No more “half swings” or “partial swings” which in my experience golfers tend to decelerate on because a lack of confidence in swing strength. The 3×4 system is absolutely the best way to KNOW you have the right club and the swinging the right speed to get it to the pin. Book covers every conceivable lie and ball position needed for that lie. Also shows how to “plan” your shot with type of grass, direction of grain and landing surface. Because of the length and the need to “study” this book I would only recommend it to golfers who are serious about their game. Short game was weakest part of my game but after only a month with this book it has become my strongest, its that fast. Went from an 18 handicap index to a 12.

Golf Swing Tempo – Your Missing Ingredient?

Posted by Steve Snead

Do you know what swing tempo Tiger Woods Uses? Or Ernie Els?

More importantly, do you know what Swing Tempo you use. If you have one, is it consistent?

In my humble opinion, Golf Swing Tempo is the MOST underrated and underwritten about subject, in all of Golfdom! Largely, because for many years it was seen as somewhat of a natural ability. One that not many golf instructors, (including the top ones), touched upon in their teachings. Even David Leadbetter, in his book ‘Faults and Fixes’, only gives it a passing mention….”Tempo is basically the overall speed of your swing”. Jim Flick in ‘How To Become A Complete Golfer’…..”The speed with which you take the club back, does not necessarily relate to the speed with which you bring it forward”. We can only assume that the PGA Tour pro’s developed their tempo as a natural progression, of learning golf, because they certainly weren’t learning it from these guys.

I have literally hundreds of books on the subject of golf. You may have a few of your own. If you were looking for instruction on the grip, I could easily find you over 30 books, each with excellent descriptions and pictures to help you find the correct grip. Likewise, if you wanted to know the correct set up, or the correct position at the top of the backswing, I could probably find you over 50. Yet, if you were to ask me what speed you should swing at, or what swing tempo you should use. Then I could only find you one! Tour Tempo: Golf’s Last Secret Finally Revealed, written byJohn Novosel and John Garrity in 2004. If I were to be totally honest with you, this one book transformed my golf game instantly. I had spent so much time working on all the individual parts of the golf swing and yet, it was this book, which became the glue that held my swing together. My drives got longer, my irons got more accurate, my handicap dropped, week after week. The ‘Golf Gods’ truly blessed us when they gave John Novosel his ‘Eureka’ moment.

Mr Novosel, studied hours and hours of footage, of ALL of the PGA touring pro’s, including some of the greats of yesteryear. He discovered the secret quite by accident. ALL of these great players had one thing that was consistent….Yes even Jim Furyk! They all swing to a consistent 3 to 1 ratio. 3 to the top of the backswing and 1 to impact. This book will have you swinging to the exact same speed and ratio as Tiger Woods…..In FIFTEEN MINUTES! It comes complete with a CD Rom, that has examples of students achieving upwards of 20mph swing speed increase, within minutes.

If you only buy one golf swing aid book this year, to help get your game on track. Then make it this one! I guarantee, you won’t be disappointed.

Here is just one sample customer review from Amazon……

The subtitle of this book is “Golf’s Last Secret Finally Revealed”. There couldn’t be a better description of this book. I have for many years carried a 20 handicap. During the summer of ’03, I made a major commitment to rebuilding my golf swing. This consisted of twelve lessons and loads of practice. I learned how to grip the club properly, how to set-up, how to take the club back, and how to swing through the ball. Like many players rebuilding their swing, my scores got worse initially before getting better. However, even after the changes settled in there was no net gain in my index. I could now hit my best shots really, really well, but I still hit enough bad shots in a round to cancel the really good ones. What was happening was that while I was better mechanically, I was playing with way too many swing thoughts. I was not enjoying playing because I was playing in fear of making a mistake, of not remembering something in a long list of swing thoughts. A playing partner recommended Tour Tempo to me a couple of months ago. After adopting the lessons of Tour Tempo, results were almost immediate. Lower scores (index down to 16.8), and more fun from playing golf. Now the only thing in my mind when I step up to the ball is the target and a cadence. In fact, I believe my improvement has resulted from both my work on mechanics and tempo. I was unable to benefit from the mechanics alone, however, because the successful golf swing , it seems, is more than just the sum of the parts; it is how everything works together in time.
