The Golf Short Game Bible – A Must Have!

Posted by Steve Snead

So why is the short game bible a must have?

Well, because we golfers have all made the same mistake. We get into the game of golf, and in our attempts to improve, we generally spend hours and hours, at the driving range, beating balls into an open field. Trying to improve our swings, our games, and our scores.

What David Pelz uncovers in this 430 page, comprehensive guide to the short game, is that, we all go about it in the wrong way. He explains to us, scientifically, after years of research and number crunching on the PGA Tour, that the top earners in the game, are the players with the best short games. Not the longest hitters, nor the best putters.

Mr Pelz contends, with scientific proof, the ‘Unified Swing’ theory. That is that the short game swing is the exact same swing that you use with any club in your bag. He insists that Golf is made up of 5 games, with 3 swings. The Power Swing, The Short Game Swing (which is one of finesse) and the Putting Swing. Obviously, the closer you can get the ball to the pin from within 100 Yards, is going to effect your scoring. Which is where the short game swing comes in.

Even if you are new to the game, you’ll already have learnt one thing and that is, that it’s easier to hit your shorter irons straighter than any other club. However, when you are within a 100 yards, can you control the distance? It’s vital that you can. Let’s say you have 64 Yards to the pin. There’s a good chance that you could hit it straight at the pin, but can you nail the distance. If you fly it straight over the flag, but 6 Yards long, from where you’re standing it’s going to look like a great shot. Trouble is you just left yourself an 18 foot putt. Which Dave Pelz will tell you that, not only are you guaranteed to miss that first putt, but you are more likely to three putt. So it makes sense, that you learn to hit it 64 Yards in the first place, doesn’t it? Even more importantly, to be able to hit a 68 Yard Shot on the next hole if you have to.

That’s where this book comes in………

An Amazon Review : Mike Davis of Ohio

This is far and away the best instructional book in golf, not to mention the short game on which this book is all about. No more “half swings” or “partial swings” which in my experience golfers tend to decelerate on because a lack of confidence in swing strength. The 3×4 system is absolutely the best way to KNOW you have the right club and the swinging the right speed to get it to the pin. Book covers every conceivable lie and ball position needed for that lie. Also shows how to “plan” your shot with type of grass, direction of grain and landing surface. Because of the length and the need to “study” this book I would only recommend it to golfers who are serious about their game. Short game was weakest part of my game but after only a month with this book it has become my strongest, its that fast. Went from an 18 handicap index to a 12.
